Developing digital skills - a message from Harrogate Borough Council   ()

Technology is evolving all the time but keeping pace can be a challenge. We know lots of people like new gadgets, but for some, the move to online and doing things digitally is a worry. It can leave some people feeling isolated or vulnerable.

Across the district, we are aware that there is still a significant percentage of our residents who don't have any digital skills.

That's why we are working with the digital inclusion charity Citizens Online to improve residents' basic digital skills and confidence to access online opportunities and services across the district.

Our ambition is to assist anyone who isn't currently able to take full advantage of technology, because of a lack of confidence or skills.

The first stage of 'Get Digital' is to recruit digital champions across the district who will then be part of a network of champions. You do not need to be an IT expert for this role!

As a Champion you will;

·         Improve your own digital and coaching skills

·         Gain certificates and Open Badges for your CV or LinkedIn profile

·         Access accredited training, resources and support through our online Digital Champions Network and local friendly team

·         Know that you’ve made a difference to someone’s digital skills and confidence
